WHAT:
Running Shorts is a theatre experience made up of four one-act
plays each with a different theatrical theme. From Shakespeare to Mamet
and from auditions to playwriting, prepare to learn about theatre in
the best possible: by watching it.
The audience will be split up and rotate through the four one-acts over the course of an hour.
The One-Acts:
PYRAMUS AND THISBE from A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare - O wall, O sweet O lovely wall.
SPEED-THE-PLAY by David Ives - Four Mamet plays in seven minutes. Prepare to enter...the Mamet Zone.
THE ILLEGAL PLAYWRIGHTING CLASS by John Lazarus - The drama walks that tightrope between realism and fantasy! Chocolate?
THE ROLE OF DELLA by John J. Wooten - Are you an actress or aren't you?
WHERE:
Laguna
Honda: Right across the street from the Forest Hill transit station.
Performances take place in the lawn and grassy areas in front of the
Laguna Honda Pavilion. (ushers will be present to guide people from
Forest Hill)
Union Square: We'll be performing all across the square.
COST: FREE! (Donations appreciated)
We
perform free theatre in high-traffic public spaces, bringing theatre to
everyone! We survive on a generous grant from Youth Funding Youth Ideas
and the donations of our audience members.
**The Friday
April 15th performance is intended for the residents of Laguna Honda
Hospital and will be inside and less mobile. Everyone is welcome, but
the residents get first priority. Please write on the wall and tell us
if you plan on coming on the 15th.
